“For infants to grow, survive and develop properly they require the right proportion of nutrients” these was made known by medical expert DR Osazee Eragbon during an interview in his office in Federal Medical Center(FMC) Bida.
Dr osazee who stated that Breast milk is rich in nutrients and antibodies and contain the right qualities of fathers,sugar,water and protein are major prerequisite to the health and survival of the baby.
Medical expert further explained that the yellowish sticky breast milk that is produced at the end of pregnancy is the ideal food for newborns and to be given within the first hour of birth, a process referred to as early initiation.and this help the immune system to be strengthen enabling it to fight life threatening illnesses like pneumonia and diarrhea amongst other infections.
He also advised mothers to exclusively breastfeed from birth up to six months and continued breastfeeding is rerecommended with appropriate complementary food till the child is two years.
