Students have been advised to desist from having unprotected sex, f they stand the chance of not contacting infections such as gonorrhea.
A medical expert Federal Medical Center Bida Dr James Adediran gave this advice in an interview recently.
Dr James said gonorrhea is a contagious diseases caused by a bacteria known as Neisseria Gonorrhea or Gonococcus and also can be transmitted through having unprotected sex with an infected person, sharing vibrator or other sex toys that have not been washed covered with new condoms each time they are used, and can be transferred from mother to child during pregnancy.
He also said that the symptoms of gonorrhea includes a thick green or yellow discharge from the vagina or penis, pain when urinating and in women bleeding in between period. But most carriers do not experience any symptoms.
He further stated that gonorrhea can be prevented by using appropriate contraception and taking other precautions like using condoms, not sharing sex toys.
Dr james further emphasized that people should avoid having unprotected sex and visit the hospital if they notice symptoms to get tested and treated as soon as possible to avoid more serious long term health problems .
