Maintaining Good Hygiene among street Vendors

Students of Mass Communication Department have urged street vendors in the school premises to maintain good hygienic.

An HND 1 student from Mass Communication department, Awe Emmanuel Olanrewaju said “some of the snacks we are eating are not always covered to the extent that different fies pinch into them and still we buy and eat them”.

He further stated that some are placed along the road side beside gutters without been covered which might cause cholera and all other diseases.

A doctor from Federal Medical Centre, Dr. Adewale Folorunsho explained cholera to be an infectious disease causing severe watery diarrhea which can lead to dehydration and even death if untreated.

He said the disease is most common in places with poor sanitation, crowding, war and famine.

He furtherly explained the signs and symptoms which include rapid heart rate, loss of skin elasticity, dry mucous membrane including the inside of the mouth, throat, nose and eyelids, low blood pressure, thirst and muscle cramps.

He adviced students to use only purified water for drinking and other chores.
