The Lagos State Government says the bed occupancy at COVID-19 Care centres in Lagos is now about 68 per cent.

The State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, disclosed this via his Twitter handle @ProfAkinAbayomi on Thursday, while giving an update on the state’s COVID-19 status for January 19, 2021.

Abayomi noted that out of 507 total bed capacity, there are only 177 available beds.

He also said that the Amour II and Gbagada Isolation Centres are been reactivated while Landmark, Agidingbi, Gbagada, FCC, Lagoon and Onikan Isolation Centres have been shut.

“There is a marked reduction from 70% to 68% in the overall bed occupancy rate at #COVID19Lagos public and private Care Centres in the last two days,” he tweeted.

Abayomi added that 476 new COVID-19 infections were confirmed in the state on January 19, increasing the state’s total COVID-19 infections to 42,401.

He said that the total number of COVID-19 tests conducted in the state so far was 268, 299, while the total number of cases discharged from COVID-19 Lagos Care centres are 3,234.

“Total number of #COVID19 cases discharged from #COVID19 Care Centres- 3,234.

“Total number of #COVID19 recovery in communities- 29,756. Cases currently under isolation- 247.

“Active Cases under Home-based care- 8,880.

“New #COVID19 related deaths- 4. Total Deaths- 284,” he said.

Abayomi, however, urged Lagosians to take COVID-19 preventive measures very serious by keeping physical distancing, masking up and washing of hands.
