The National Primary Health Care Development Agency on Wednesday held a virtual sensitisation meeting with health educators and communication officers from the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory.
The meeting, according to the NPHCDA, was to perfect strategies for the introduction of the much-awaited COVID-19 vaccine in the country.
The NPHCDA disclosed this in a tweet on its official Twitter handle @NpacdaNG on Wednesday afternoon.
“Happening Now: Sensitization meeting with State Health Educators & Communication/Mobilisation Officers from 36 states + the FCT on COVID-19 Vaccine Introduction,” the agency tweeted.
According to NPHCDA, the key objectives of the meeting was to sensitise participants on COVID-19 vaccine introduction in Nigeria and also address rumour and misconceptions about the vaccine.
The meeting, the agency added, was also to agree on roles and responsibilities of communication and mobilisation officers for the COVID-19 vaccination campaign in the country.
NPHCDA, however, reiterated that COVID-19 is real, adding that the viral disease was spreading rapidly and killing Nigerians.
“Please take responsibility. Adhere to all preventive measures. Wash your hands frequently. Wear your face mask. Keep a safe distance Protect yourself and others,” it tweeted.
Recall that the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 had announced that the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd) has ordered that COVID-19 vaccine be made available in Nigeria.
The PTF also noted that the NPHCDA is the agency mandated to handle the introduction of the vaccine in the country.
