The Lagos Government says Eti-Osa, Ajeromi, Surulere and Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Areas are topping the chart of COVID-19 cases in the state.
The chart on the trends in positivity of COVID-19 cases shows that Eti-Osa leads with 27 percent, followed by Ajeromi with 26 percent, Surulere 26 percent and Amuwo-Odofin 25 percent.
The chart also shows COVID-19 positivity cases in Mushin, Apapa, Agege, Ibeju-Lekki, Oshodi-Isolo, Lagos Island, Kosofe, Alimosho, Ifako-Ijaiye.
Others are Lagos Mainland, Epe, Badagry, Ikeja, Ojo, Shomolu and Ikorodu, respectively.
In a series of tweets by the Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, via his verified Twitter handle @ProfAkinAbayomi, he noted that the number of COVID-19 tests conducted in public laboratories is now over 125,631, representing 57 percent; while 94,222 tests have been conducted in private hospitals, representing 43 percent.
According to the commissioner, the total cumulative COVID-19 tests as of December 18, is 201,729, with 26,523 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 227 deaths, with 12.8 percent positivity rate.
He said, “Active cases under home-based care is 2,699, cases currently under isolation in public and private #COVID19 care facilities – 40. Cumulative cases discharged from isolation – 2,637. Available isolation bed spaces – 452. #COVID19 cases recovered in communities – 20,920.”
The commissioner also said that the proportion of patients with comorbidities is 30 percent of the entire reported cases; while 48 percent of patients had mild symptoms as of the time of compiling the figures
Thirty-five percent had moderate symptoms, 16 percent showed severe symptoms and one percent were in critical condition.
He also reported that in the first wave of the pandemic in Lagos State, average daily infection cases were between 100 and 150.
However, as the second wave COVID-19 cases set in, infection rates have hovered between 100 and 459 cases per day.

Meanwhile, Abayomi warned Lagos residents to avoid crowded places during the festive season.
“During this festive season, let us avoid crowded places. Let’s maintain physical distancing of about two meters apart.
“Let’s wear our mask and wash our hands frequently or use alcohol-based sanitiser. Let’s spread the word not the virus,” he tweeted.
